Mossman Gorge

Friday, 4 August 2017
On our last day up in Cairns we didn't fly out until 8pm, so had the day to fill in. After leaving our wonderful apartment at Vue Apartments, Trinity Beach, we headed north to Mossman Gorge.  We had a look around the shop that is at the entrance to the road up to Mossman Gorge and had a drink at the cafe, before catching the shuttle bus up to where the walks began.

Just outside the shop, under the shelter of the eaves were two large Golden Orb spiders. While I can appreciate their unique beauty, I prefer to do so at a distance - far to many long creepy legs for my liking.  This web had lots and lots and lots of little baby orb spiders in it.

The walks through the gorge are not long and the track is well marked. The river is very picturesque. We enjoyed the bush, hearing some birds, seeing diggings beside the track made by some animal (we tossed up many ideas as to what had done the digging, some very far fetched) and seeing the variations in the flora.  It took us much longer than it should to walk 3 km's as Pete spent ages taking photos, trying to get the perfect shot.

Pete and I intend to go back up here and to the Cairns area when we do our trip around Australia by caravan and explore a great deal more.
