I started off making a mental list of all the things I want to do once I stop working, however, I got side tracked when I thought about all my photos and the need to get back to scrap-booking. I pulled out the album I brought over with me from NZ and the one I have started while here. My daughter and I began scrap-booking 12 or 14 yrs ago, when her kids were little. She didn't stick at it long, even though she had more of an artistic eye than I do. She did, however, make a beautiful scrap-booked album of our wonderful little Aunty Jean's life for one of her 80 something birthdays. Aunty Jean loved it and Christina now has it, since our Aunty Jean died 3 years ago aged 89.
Nowadays, I 'cheat' and use google images for scrap-booking ideas, and then sort of copy the ones I really like with the materials I have, which usually aren't anywhere near the same, but at least it gives me an idea of a layout for the page. My scrap-booking has progressed over the years, from what I consider "clumsy" to much more artistic. You can see for yourselves, below.
Hollie, above is now nearly 13. She was tiny when she was born. She is 3 days old in the top photo and in MY bed. Such a little doll. Nowadays, she is quite the young lady and starting to give her mum, my daughter, the run-around. Could be karma :)
I did a trip to Europe with my parents, when my Mum had a conference to attend in Italy. I went to a scrap-booking class not long after we returned home, and this is what I produced there.
Pete and I visited Seaworld, Gold Coast in 2007 and I loved the pelicans. Their eyes are amazing.
Jack, Hollie's big brother, who is now 14 and a half and nearly 1.8 m's tall, loved going pig hunting in NZ, where they live, with his Dad. He was 10 in this photo. He thinks he is so cool, having this pig on his back and would like to have everyone think he carried it all the way back to camp, yeah right Jack. Now he prefers fishing.
My skills are improving, no, actually, I copied this layout off one on google images. This is Miss Annika when she was sweet and adorable. I so love her laughing face in this photo. Below is her again, last year at swimming lessons. She is a real water child and would spend hours jumping in and swimming around if you let her. She has progressed to learning over-arm now.
The papers and embellishments available to scrap-bookers are endless and also can be costly. My aim to use as many of the papers I already have and embellishments and only buy if really really necessary. I'm really looking forward to spreading all my "stuff" out on the table and getting stuck in to doing an album for each of the grandchildren.
